There are a number of Help Services you can turn to if you want to talk with someone about how you’re feeling; or if you know someone who may need additional help. There are a range of options - so choose what feels right for you. You might want to talk to a trained volunteer (or a professional counsellor) through one of the telephone support services. + crisis assessment and treatment teams (CATT)

If you or someone you know has reached “crisis point” – then they need urgent help. There are trained professionals, called CATT teams, who provide emergency psychiatric care for people experiencing a mental health crisis. You can ask your GP about access to Crisis Assessment and Treatment Teams. But for help in emergencies, contact your local Mental Health Services immediately.

+ balance: new zealand bipolar & depression network

The mission of Balance NZ is to provide support, education, advocacy and training to people (tangata whai ora) affected by bipolar disorder or depression in New Zealand. Their site has a list of support groups throughout the country as well as  online support groups.

A mutual help mental health movement that provides support to people with mental health problems. Friendship is the special key to mental health. Groups meet weekly and are open to all. This confidential supportive group is held at Pukekohe Methodist Church Hall, Lounge Room cnr Wesley & Queen Streets, Pukekohe on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month starting at 7.30 pm. It provides an opportunity to meet with local people who can relate to your experiences, share tips for recovery and help you accept that a mood disorder does not define who you are as an individual. A 12-step organisation similar to Alcoholics Anonymous. They meet weekly for the purpose of working towards recovery from emotional difficulties.
