For some groups, there will be shared challenges that contribute to their experiences of distress. And there are also some shared ways of getting through the hard times to enjoy life again.

Groups who share values

There’s no one thing that causes us to feel depressed or anxious. But some groups share challenges that can create a higher risk of distress. These include trauma, hardship and discrimination. Just as we share some of the challenges that make life hard, there are also some common things that can help us.

Your identity plays a big part in thinking about what we need to do when it comes to caring for yourself, whānau and others who are close to you.
